Even More Blog Help...Am I Hopeless?

Can someone please tell me what's happened to my blog NOW? I didn't mean to end up with this weird, scroll-down-past-the-blogroll thing. HELP!

No, there's something wrong with it, since you're complaining about it. Did it used to be in the "normal" order, where it didn't require a bunch of Scroll-Downs to arrive at the current post? If so, what was the last change you remember making in the template before it went screwy? Do you have a copy of an older template that you could try (without saving it)? Sometimes I've found that things move around--like my sidebar has been moved from the top side, where it is now, to a position at the very botton of my posts, simply because I left out a "<" or some other little piece of code in the template or because I gave an inaccurate bit of code for an Image in the post itself. I'll look at your code through the "View-Source" feature, but I may not catch what's wrong. You should look at it very carefully yourself, maybe you'll find a missing quotation mark or something.

It started doing this when I put my blogroll in....I've gone over every line and can't find the problem. I'm not exactly HTML-literate, though, and I'm probably missing the problem.

It looks like the blogroll starts with [ul class="Zen-Approved!"] but I don't see the closing code ([/ul] - replace square brackets with < and >) after the end of the blogroll. Try that and see if it works.

I agree with anonymous. There's not only no ending ul where it should be, but it looks to me like it's been shoved up above your blogroll list. I'd say remove the one before the list and place it at the end of the ul list (all the "li"'s).

Make a safety copy of your current template (though I suspect it's so screwed up that it doesn't much matter) and then try that. If you can't follow this, email me and we'll doodle along until you get it. You could send me a copy of your real template and I'll make the changes and send it back to you. It might not work, but it can't do any harm if you save it before looking it over thoroughly. Good luck.

This thing doesn't even do the same thing twice in a row (for me, anyway). Sometimes I can barely bring up the post so that I can Comment. Or I comment on it and again can't arrive at the comments. The comments blink past and I'm somewhere else. I've had mine pretty screwed up in the past, but this one's a winner! For now, at any rate. Don't do anything too extreme yet (like dumping everything). Not yet.

Actually, I think the [/ul] that's floating up above the blogroll belongs to the "recent posts" section above it (it has the opening [ul id="recently"] code before its links), so I wouldn't remove it. I would first just try cutting and pasting the [/ul] (again, use < and > in place of the square brackets) right after the blogroll.

You're right. I look too hurriedly sometimes and just Think I've seen a flaw or clue. I copied the source code from the Internet and put it in an html editor and tried that and every other thing I could think of, but to no avail. Maybe something else will occur to me. Maybe I need to have the original template, for copying the "source" code copies a lot of extra stuff.

I've solved it. The code however can't be sent through these comments, at least not using the Pre tags. There may be some other way, but I know it will send via an email. So send your or somebody's email address if you want the solution.

Well, I didn't mean to send an ultimatum, it was just late when I wrote that last missive.
